Founder
Rajat Arora is a dynamic and notable figure in the realm of immersive technology, and its revolutionary applications in education and training. Rajat's experience of over a decade has helped him to implement state-of-the-art learning solutions that have transformed the world of online learning. He firmly believes in the vast potential of XR technologies to revolutionize the way we learn, and with a vision to bring about better and effective learning methods, he founded Elearning Design Center (ELDC), a digital training studio that specializes in creating highly engaging experiences. Dr. Ali Hafiz
MD, Program Advisor
Dr. Ali Hafiz is a Pulmonary/Critical Care physician with special expertise in advanced medical simulation, whose goal is to ensure that VR simulation training modules are developed upon a solid foundation of evidence-based medicine and in alignment with major society guidelines. Ali received his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from the University of Virginia (go Hoos!) and subsequently his M.D. from Ross University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine - NYC Health+Hospitals/Jacobi, where he had the honor of serving as a Chief Resident. He then completed his fellowship training in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, where he remains on faculty as Adjunct Instructor in Medicine. During his fellowship he completed additional training in all aspects of medical simulation, under the mentorship of Dr. Brian Kaufman at the Manhattan VA Medical Center. Ali believes deeply that XR technologies will transform the future of both medical education and clinical practice. He is a passionate educator and has been involved in the development of several XR-based immersive medical training experiences, including as a consultant with the American College of Chest Physicians.
Jared Kutzin
DNP, MS, MPH, Program Advisor
Jared Kutzin, DNP, MS, MPH, RN is a leader in the fields of healthcare education and simulation. Over the past two decades, Jared has overseen the planning, implementation, and evaluation of multiple simulation facilities and programs. A former Emergency Medical Service (EMS) professional and firefighter, Dr. Kutzin practiced clinically as an emergency nurse prior to working in healthcare simulation. Jared received an MPH in Health Policy and Management, an MS in Medical Education, and a DNP in Nursing Leadership, and has been a faculty at numerous medical and nursing schools throughout his career. The author of over a dozen peer reviewed publications, Jared frequently lectures at leading simulation, education, and patient safety conferences and focuses his work on aligning technology, education, and clinical practice to improve performance and patient safety among healthcare providers.
Dr. Andrew J. Eyre
MD, MS, Program Advisor
Dr. Andrew Eyre serves as the Medical Director for the STRATUS Center for Medical Simulation at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts where he is also a practicing emergency medicine physician. He attended medical school at the University of Vermont College of Medicine where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism Honor Societies. After completing residency at the Harvard Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency (HAEMR) based out of Brigham and Women’s Hospital and The Massachusetts General Hospital, Dr. Eyre completed a fellowship in medical simulation at STRATUS/Brigham and Women’s Hospital and earned a master’s degree in Health Professions Education from the MGH Institute of Health Professions.
Throughout his career, Dr. Eyre has held a variety of leadership roles in medical education at both Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, including serving as the Assistant Program Director for HAEMR. Dr. Eyre has received numerous awards for teaching and education, including the Brigham and Women’s Hospital Bernard Lown Award for Excellence in Teaching. In addition to medical simulation, Dr. Eyre’s academic interests include international medical education, curriculum design, and procedure education.
Connie M. Lopez
MSN, CNS, CPHRM, CHSEA, Program Advisor
Connie Lopez is a Clinical Practice Consultant and Simulation Leader for a large not-for-profit organization and is part of a Risk Management and Patient Safety Team. She has led national and regional level risk education and healthcare simulation programs for close to 17 years. Ms. Lopez has over 18 years’ experience in researching and implementing simulation-based educational programs in the clinical setting with simulations focused on improving teamwork and communication among practicing clinicians. Connie has presented perinatal, patient safety, and simulation related topics nationally and internationally over the past 15 years. She is a member of the Association for Nursing Professional Development and the Association of Women’s Health Obstetrics and Neonatal Nursing organizations, a Fellow of the Society for Simulation in Healthcare, and has chaired educational events at both national and international conferences.
Dr. Michael E. Zychowicz
DNP, ANP, ONP, FAAN, FAANP, Program Advisor
Dr. Michael E. Zychowicz is a Professor at Duke University School of Nursing where he provides leadership for the Orthopedic NP Specialty and is Co-Director for the Duke - VA Primary Care NP Residency. An educator for more than two decades, Dr. Zychowicz has a deep interest in the application of virtual reality as a modality to teach psycho-motor skills to distance-based health professional students. Dr. Zychowicz earned a BSN from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. His MSN as a Nurse Practitioner was completed at Syracuse University while he earned a DNP degree at Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Zychowicz’s clinical practice experience includes a variety of orthopedic specialty practices. He is board certified as both an Adult Primary Care NP and an Orthopedic NP. Dr. Zychowicz has authored several journal articles, book chapters on a wide variety of orthopedic topics and is frequently invited to speak at national and international conferences on orthopedic nursing practice.
Dr. Martin Kuuskne

Dr. Martin Kuuskne is a Emergency Physician for the William Osler Health System in Ontario, Canada. He completed both his Bachelor of Health Sciences and his medical degree at McMaster University and then completed his Royal College Emergency Medicine specialty training at McGill University. Dr. Kuuskne became interested in medical education after his experience with problem-based and small group learning at McMaster. He went on to develop the simulation curriculum for his residency program that is now regularly integrated into its educational rounds. He completed a post-graduate fellowship in medical education and simulation at McGill. During this time, he co-founded EMSimCases.com, the largest online repository of peer-reviewed resuscitation simulation cases.
Amar Patel

Amar Patel is an innovator, researcher, and educator.
Dr. Patel recently served as the Chief Learning Officer at CAE Healthcare, overseeing global healthcare education, staff training programs, and consulting services/solutions footprints. Before CAE, he served as the Executive Director of WakeMed Innovations and the Director of the Center for Innovative Learning at WakeMed Health & Hospitals. In these roles, he led innovation projects within the healthcare system, overseeing the entire process from conceptual designs and theoretical applications to creating new technological solutions and developing innovative care delivery models. Dr. Patel also played a crucial role in integrating technology-based educational programs, such as human patient simulation, healthcare gaming, eLearning applications, simulation-based research, and hybrid education. Before his time at WakeMed, he worked as an Advanced Life Support Program Instructor and the Project Manager of Medical Simulation at the University of Maryland, College Park's Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute.
Dr. Patel is widely recognized as a published simulation expert. With a diverse professional background that includes experiences as a firefighter, paramedic, educator, researcher, and curriculum developer, he brings a comprehensive understanding of the field. Dr. Patel maintains over 17 certifications and participates in multiple healthcare quality committees.
In addition to his expertise and research pursuits, Dr. Patel has provided consulting services to organizations worldwide. He specializes in assisting with designing, constructing, and operating simulation and education programs, building ROI/ROE models, and matching courses/curriculums to program needs. Dr. Patel has also focused on curriculum development, technology integration, program management, and quality improvement. His global consulting work leveraged his extensive knowledge to help institutions establish effective and innovative learning environments.
Dr. Patel holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in computer music from Goucher College, a Master of Science in Emergency Health Services Education from the University of Maryland Baltimore County, A Master of Business Administration with a focus on business intelligence and analytics, and a Doctorate in Health Sciences from Nova Southeastern University.
Terri Millerd

Terri Millerd, as a Clinical Education Specialist with MedVR Education, lends her professional expertise in nursing and medical laboratory technology to make VR simulation training modules as realistic and real-world as possible. Terri has been a registered nurse for 17 years and a medical laboratory technician for 10 years. She graduated with a degree in Associates of Science in Medical Laboratory Technician in 1992 and Nursing in 2004. Terri graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing from University of Texas at Arlington in 2005. Currently she holds certifications in Medical Laboratory Technician from American Society of Clinical Pathology, Nursing from Texas Board of Nursing, and Clinical Documentation Specialist from Association of Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists.
Ray Sheehan
Program Advisor, EVS
With 40+ years of experience in acute and non-acute care environmental services, Ray’s extensive experience and knowledge has evolved through working with proven, scientific procedures for the environmental staff.
“While many clients look for a ‘magic bullet’ product to improve results” Ray says, “educating the EVS Technician is the most effective tool for the department.”
Although traditional training methods are still the standard, Ray sees virtual reality training for EVS technicians as the future of training. He believes that meeting the techs learning style produces best results, which is verified by improved cleaning scores, lowered patient room turnover times, and end user acceptance.
Ray’s commitment to education led to him obtaining certifications as an Association of Healthcare Environmentalists trainer for Certified Healthcare Environmentalist Service Technician, Certified Surgical Cleaning Technician, Certified non-Acute Care Cleaning, Certified Laundry and Linen Manager, and ServSafe Trainer. Ray has also obtained the Certified Master of Infection Prevention from AHE, a course and workshop designed to educate EVS staff on infection prevention methods, studies, and conclusions.
Laurie M. Burns
MSN, RN, CNOR, RNFA
Laurie M. Burns, as Perioperative Clinical Education Specialist with MedVR Education, shares professional clinical expertise in the Operating Room as a nurse and First Assistant, providing realism to the simulation training modules for a nursing specialty many students are not afforded in the university setting. Laurie has been a registered nurse for 34 years of which 32 years have been in Surgical Services. Laurie graduated in 1987 with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing and later went back to complete her BSN and MSN at Gwynedd Mercy University in 2010 and 2018. Laurie pursued the expanded role of an RN First Assistant in 2012 from Delaware County Community College, a program developed and led by Dr. Jane Rothrock, former Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) President. Laurie has been a long-standing certified nurse and member of the Association of Operating Room Nurses as well as the American Nurses Association, Malignant Hyperthermia Association of the United States and Association of Professional Nurse Development. Laurie also participates on the Advisory Board for the Delaware County Community College Surgical Technologist Program.
Elizabeth Finetry

Elizabeth Finerty, has been in the nursing domain for the past 23 years. She is currently working as a Clinical Nurse Specialist for MedVR Education and the University of Louisville Physicians Urology. Her experience ranges from Neonatal Intensive Care at Vanderbilt University Hospital and Pediatric Emergency Department Care at Norton Children's Hospital to outlying county Emergency Department Care at Jewish East Hospital and Jewish Northeast Hospital. In the last 6 years, Elizabeth has specialized in IV therapy including PICC line placement and maintenance at Norton Brownsboro Hospital and Urodynamic studies at Norton Women's and Children's Hospital and ULP Urology.
Dr. Nick S. Yackovich
PhD, MSW, MPA, Program Advisor
Dr. Nick S. Yackovich is a licensed Psychologist in the State of Wisconsin. Prior to that he held a license as a clinical social worker in the States of Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. He has been a licensed mental health provider working with forensic populations for more than 25 years, with experience providing treatment, conducting evaluations, developing treatment programs, conducting research, and offering consultation in a variety of private, civil, and correctional settings. Dr. Yackovich has also served as a clinical faculty person at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Social Work and chaired a number of program areas including the diversity committee and the mental health field program. His specialty areas include treatment and evaluation with sexual offenders, substance and alcohol use disorders, aggression and violence, and general psychological distress. Dr. Yackovich earned his Masters Degree in Social Work (MSW) and Masters Degree of Public Administration from the University of Pittsburgh and his Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from West Virginia University. Dr. Yackovich maintains a private practice in the Madison (WI) area.
