Sudden Onset of a Visual Disturbance
Available in VR and web browser
This tool for assessing the sudden onset of a visual disturbance is designed to help learners practice their patient assessment skills.
Employing end-to-end AI and technologies like large language model (LLM) and deep learning, these virtual ‘clients’ possess the ability to respond like real humans. Learners can conduct a completely organic conversation with the client, asking them about their symptoms and problems faced. Based on the client’s responses, a line of diagnosis can be established, and treatment plan formulated.
The MedVR Ed XR Platform provides trainers and instructors with the facility to review conversation logs and analyze learner performance based on customized rubrics. Based on the performance review, trainers will be able to provide precise and effective feedback.

Case History
Sudden Onset of a Visual Disturbance
Fifty-five-year-old Linda Nguyen is visiting her primary care provider because she started seeing flashing lights and a shadow over her vision in her right eye. It was a sudden onset and a day prior and has been persistent since then. The visual changes are affecting her ability to see clearly and grave discomfort. Linda has had moderate near sightedness but that has been stable for a few years. She has no history of diabetes or hypertension and has not had any eye surgeries. Your task, as a healthcare practitioner, is to obtain a health history from Ms. Nguyen , assess her symptoms, and formulate a diagnostic hypothesis. Responses to your questions will be the basis on which you develop a list of possible differential diagnoses for the cause of the patient's visual disturbance.
